uid: T-206 title: Telegram receipt sheet β€” a Mini App that files a whole batch status: doing area: telegram-receipts created: 2026-09-03 updated: 2026-10-06 owner: girafeev1 assignee: EOP Telegram Bot related: T-176, T-182, T-187, I-041

T-206 β€” the receipt sheet

βœ… Attestation: read AGENTS.md Β· checked the board by scope (nothing covers a Mini App; T-187 and I-041 are the chat-card lifecycle, T-182 is payment-method declaration β€” no dup) Β· tracking T-206. Source: EOP Telegram Bot Β· https://claude.ai/code/session_019z4CYS2vGnufAXZNDmnBJW

Why this exists

A batch is unworkable in chat. The owner's 2026-09-03 upload was 34 receipts; each one then needed a typed reply and a company tap β€” ~68 interactions across ~34 bot messages, and the flow dead-ended entirely at the first reply (I-041). Chat is a poor form.

The owner asked whether the card could take the note directly β€” verbatim: "could an image submitted without the note to morph itself into allowing user to input the note on it instead (like a picker with a field)?" Telegram has no text field in a message bubble; the only in-Telegram form is a Mini App opened by a web_app button. Owner: "Let's turn it into a mini app then".

What it is

pages/tg/receipts.tsx, opened by a ✍️ Note & file button on the receipt card. It lists every pending receipt of the caller's, each with a note field and a company picker, and files them in one submit. Design preview (approved with two rounds of feedback β€” row spacing, then the full lifecycle): https://claude.ai/code/artifact/6ff5b310-e862-4fc1-bcb9-b3ed8a2c144c

Authentication is Telegram's signed initData, and nothing else. There is no cookie and no login. lib/telegram/miniapp.ts verifies it per Telegram's scheme (HMAC_SHA256(key "WebAppData", token) as the secret over the sorted, decoded data-check-string), compared with timingSafeEqual, and refuses payloads older than 24h so a captured string cannot be replayed. lib/telegram/miniappSession.ts then puts it through the existing bot allowlist, access-expiry and subsidiary-access checks. Knowing a pendingId is never a capability: every endpoint re-checks the pending doc's own fromUserId.

No Firestore schema change in Phase 1. The sheet reads and writes the existing telegram_pending_receipts fields (note, awaiting) and emits the existing receipt/photo.received event β€” a receipt filed from the sheet is indistinguishable to the worker from one filed in chat. Nothing was added anywhere. (Phase 2 does change the shape β€” nine fields on the same row, approved by the owner first. See the log.)

Decisions

  • The sheet lists EVERY waiting receipt, not just the tapped one. The batch is the whole reason it exists; one trip clears it.
  • The chat card keeps its lifecycle for now and is retired only in Phase 3 β€” see phasing. Owner: "If the mini app could handle everything, then I think the 'chat card' (meaning the chat bot right?) doesn't need to do anything anymore". Corrected in conversation: the bot must still receive photos and offer a way in, so what is retired is the morphing-card lifecycle, not the bot.
  • House fonts on Telegram's own colours. Cantata One headings, Newsreader labels/values, over the palette the client hands us in themeParams, so the sheet reads as EOP but follows the user's Telegram into dark mode.
  • Thumbnails are proxied, never linked. Telegram's file URLs embed the bot token, so the bytes are fetched server-side; the page requests them by POST (initData in the body, not a URL) and lazily, only as a row nears the viewport β€” a 34-row sheet must not pull 34 photos on open over mobile data.
  • A failed inngest.send is reported, not swallowed. The chat path still swallows it (noted in I-041); the sheet cannot, because it is the only surface the person is looking at β€” the pending is put back and the row says so.

Phasing (deliberate β€” ship-then-retire, never both at once)

  • Phase 1 (this change): the sheet files a batch β€” note, company, submit. The card keeps processing and summary. Retiring the old flow in the same step would leave no working path if the new one misbehaves in production, and nothing is deployed until the owner orders it.
  • Phase 2: the sheet gains the live stages (queued / cleaning / cropping / reading) and the check-and-confirm step. Needs polling and reads of the receipt doc the worker writes.
  • Phase 3: retire the card lifecycle. The chat becomes one acknowledgement per batch plus a persistent menu button (setChatMenuButton, type web_app β€” needs a one-time BotFather step by the owner, who owns the bot). This is where T-173 / T-174 / T-176 surface code is deleted.

Settled: Confirm lives ONLY in the sheet (owner, 2026-09-03)

Verbatim: "Sheet only, which is the mini app right? Nothing should live on the card anymore."

Confirm is the approval at the END of a receipt's life β€” the AI proposes a parse, nothing reaches Drive or the books until a person accepts it. Today that button is on the chat summary card. It moves to the sheet, and the card gets nothing in its place. Consequences, deliberately accepted:

  • The card flow can actually be deleted in Phase 3 rather than kept alive by one surviving button. Keeping Confirm on the card would have made Phase 3 impossible in all but name.
  • Approving requires opening the sheet, even for a single receipt. No tapping Confirm in passing.
  • Mechanically neutral: the card's buttons only emit a receipt/user-action event that the paused Inngest run is waiting for (sendUserAction). The sheet emits the same event, so neither home is harder to build β€” this was a product choice, not a technical one.

Order matters: Phase 2 must land before Phase 3. Confirm has to exist in the sheet before the card's Confirm is removed, or a read receipt would have nowhere to be approved.

Still open with the owner

  • Whether the sheet offers "confirm all that read cleanly", holding back only low-confidence or drift-flagged receipts. It is the real time-saver at 34 receipts, but it means approving a batch on the AI's confidence rather than eyeballing each one β€” an accounting-records judgement, so the owner's call. Phase 2 shipped per-receipt confirm only.
  • T-182's company-card /command should become a checkbox here rather than a chat command β€” coordinate before it is built.

Verify on the first deploy

  • Inngest has to pick up the three new functions. Debounce itself needs nothing switched on β€” it is function config, not an account setting, and it appears nowhere in Inngest's plan comparison (documented limits are a 1 s minimum / 7 d maximum period, and it cannot be combined with batching). What must happen is a sync: the app re-registers at /api/inngest on deploy via the Vercel integration, or manually from the Inngest dashboard. Confirm the three appear (receipt-batch-arrived, receipt-batch-read, receipt-expiry-warning), then the behaviour check: send three photos, expect one message. If three arrive, the fallback is singleton keyed on the chat with a leading step.sleep, or a "last notice at" marker on the row (which would need a field, so ask first).
  • The menu button β€” setChatMenuButton may be refused until the bot knows the domain. Hit /api/telegram/setup?bot=receipt&key=<secret> and read the menuButton field in the response; if it errors, the fix is BotFather β†’ /mybots β†’ the bot β†’ Bot Settings β†’ Menu Button, then re-run.
  • The sheet's file picker on a real phone β€” whether Telegram's in-app browser offers both the camera and the photo library from the input, and whether iOS hands over JPEG or HEIC. The upload refuses HEIC with a message naming the Camera setting that fixes it, but that is a guess at the likely cause rather than something observed.

Answered since Phase 1

  • How you learn a receipt needs your check β€” the per-batch line updates itself, as proposed and as drawn in the mock above. Design settled; blocked only on the field above.
  • Category before filing β€” done in Phase 2: the check-it panel has the full category picker, and changing it sends the same set-category action the card's picker sent.

Log

  • 2026-09-03 β€” Phase 1 built. New: lib/telegram/miniapp.ts (+9 unit tests covering a Telegram-signed payload, a wrong-token signature, a tampered user id that keeps the original hash, replay past the window, and values containing =/&), lib/telegram/miniappSession.ts, lib/telegram/pendingReceipts.ts (the pending store and the ERL-only filing rule, now one definition shared by both surfaces instead of copies in the webhook), three endpoints under pages/api/telegram/miniapp/, and the page. The webhook's card gains the web_app button and its local copies of the store/rules are removed. Replying with a note still works as the fallback. Verified: fresh npm ci, unfiltered tsc --noEmit --incremental false exit 0, npm run test 892/896 (the 4 are the pre-existing env-dependent billing-ingest tests), eslint clean on the new files. Runtime verification is owner-side after a deploy β€” nothing here is live.
  • 2026-09-03 β€” Codex review: three findings, all real, all fixed (2b30959); merged (6f94bfc). P1 β€” the claim was not atomic. The sheet read the pending's state and then updated unconditionally, so a double-submit or a chat tap arriving together could both pass the check and both dispatch, processing one photo twice. This is precisely the race already fixed on the chat path (T-187 / I-041) and not carried over β€” the cost of writing a second surface against the same document. It now takes the same lastUpdateTime precondition, and a lost race is distinguished from a write error by re-reading: gone or already dispatching means another writer owns it, which is success from the person's side. P2 β€” rows showed a device-local clock time only, so pendings from different days were indistinguishable (the live collection holds some months old) and the "Hong Kong time" comment was simply wrong. Now the house MMM DD, YYYY date plus the time, pinned to Asia/Hong_Kong. P2 β€” the filed count was overwritten per attempt, under-reporting after a partial batch and a retry. It accumulates. All three threads answered on the PR. SHAs (append-only): 7dfdace (Phase 1), 2b30959 (review fixes), 6f94bfc (merge).
  • 2026-09-03 β€” Phase 2 built (922f652, f88287b). The receipt now lives in the row rather than the card.

The blocker, and how it was settled. Phase 2 could not start until one thing was decided: a receipt that had been read existed nowhere a web page could look. The pipeline is confirm-first β€” the pending row was deleted at dispatch, and Drive and the books are untouched until Confirm β€” so the parse, the confidence and the straightened image lived only as the paused run's step output, with the Telegram caption as the only human-readable copy. (That is why categoryFromCaption in the webhook recovers a category by regex-ing the bot's own caption.) Three options were put to the owner (https://claude.ai/code/artifact/6a53c768-d6d2-4a0f-96f9-fb7447fe9f64): create the receipt document early, keep the pending row alive, or a new collection. The owner rejected a new collection and chose to keep the receipt in the run, with the row as what the sheet reads β€” verbatim: "I would suggest for the pending receipts to continue to live on inngest until whether the submission expires within a certain amount of time/ as long as the user could still see it being left incomplete on the mini app, but no card anymore as I would like to retire it", then "Okay, let's go".

Worth recording why the run itself could not be the sheet's source: only step.run outputs are checkpointed, and the current reading after an edit lives in plain local variables the run never writes down — so Inngest's read API could have shown the first parse and none of the person's corrections. Discovery is also event→runs→run, with no filter by user.

Schema (approved before any field was written). Nine fields on telegram_pending_receipts/{pendingId} in aote-system: subsidiaryId, receiptId, stage, parsed, originalParsed, flags, preview, expiresAt, updatedAt; awaiting gains the value in-flight (same type). Nothing removed, renamed or retyped, and accounting/receipts/entries is untouched β€” still written only on Confirm.

Where the straightened image goes. The crop is a step output, so the sheet cannot reach it; a copy is parked in the bucket every browser-uploaded receipt already lives in (NEXT_PUBLIC_FIREBASE_STORAGE_BUCKET), under a receipts/_staging/ prefix of its own, streamed to the sheet through the existing gated photo endpoint β€” never a signed URL. Deleted at all five exits. Owner's call, taken with the trade stated plainly: a straightened copy exists on our disk before approval, which option (b) β€” pulling it from Inngest β€” would have avoided at the cost of a third-party API in the image path and a step-output surface I could not verify (the sandbox classifier blocked the Secret Manager fetch).

Two bugs the new tests found in my own validator, both of which would have reached the books: an empty total passed as zero (Number('') is 0, not NaN), and 2026-02-31 would have been filed as 2026-03-03, because new Date moves an impossible date instead of rejecting it.

A duplicate now has somewhere to go. The dup-check used to state its case in a caption with a "save anyway" button; with no card that would have been a Confirm that silently did nothing. The clashing receipt goes onto the row (inside flags) and the sheet makes the same case, with the override folded into its Confirm.

Verified: tsc --noEmit --incremental false exit 0; eslint clean on every file touched (three pre-existing errors elsewhere left alone, two dead imports in the webhook removed); vitest 97/97 in __tests__/lib/telegram including 27 new tests across the action validator and the staging-path guard, and 922/926 overall β€” the 4 are the pre-existing billing-ingest tests that need GCP credentials this sandbox does not have. Nothing is deployed. - 2026-09-03 β€” Phase 3 started, blocked partway. Landed: the worker's card is now conditional on the chat having handed it a message to drive (cardless), so a dispatch that names no status message stays out of the chat entirely β€” no summary card, no dup side-by-side, and above all no fresh message per receipt. Runs already parked keep their cards and finish as they started, which is why it is decided per run rather than by a switch. Also landed: setChatMenuButton (type web_app) registered from the existing /api/telegram/setup endpoint, so one request after a deploy puts a permanent door to the sheet beside the chat input β€” the batch line's own button scrolls away, this one does not. miniAppUrl() moved to lib/telegram/miniapp.ts now that three callers need it. Not landed: the batch line itself, which needs batchMessageId β€” see "Still open".

Two per-receipt notices deliberately survive the cutover rather than being silenced: a photo that is not a receipt, and a re-run that failed. Both are rare, both are actionable, and the row is cleared or unchanged in each case so the sheet could not carry them. Silencing them would have traded a tidy chat for a receipt that vanished without saying why. - 2026-09-03 β€” 78 abandoned pending rows deleted from production, on the owner's instruction: "The current pending submissions are not important, so is better for them to be eliminated than to be left stale." May 18 β†’ Sep 3; 74 awaiting a note, 4 awaiting a company; 73 the owner's, 5 belonging to a second Telegram user (5373664683) β€” flagged to the owner, since those are someone else's uploads that were never filed. Safe by construction: a pending row exists only before dispatch, so none had been downloaded, cropped or read, and no Inngest run held any of them. Verified 0 remaining. The 78 photo-prompt cards left in the chat are now dead buttons. - 2026-09-03 β€” Phase 3 landed. The card is retired, and the field it was blocked on turned out not to be needed.

The owner asked whether messaging the bot could be abandoned entirely β€” "could we abandon messaging to the bot altogether and for the users to interact with the mini app only?" β€” then, offered the three shapes: "I don't mind that the bot serves as a reminder, I'm also entirely fine with C, since the app has never reminded me to pick up on a pending receipt anyways." Both were acceptable, so the choice was ours; B was taken, on the evidence of the 78 rows deleted an hour earlier: those are what "nothing reminded me" looks like, and a shut app cannot chase anyone.

That question dissolved the blocker. The batch line needed batchMessageId only because it was designed to speak immediately and then be rewritten as the counts moved. Once uploading and watching happen in the sheet, the chat has no reason to speak at arrival-and-then-change: two fresh messages at two moments say the same thing and remember nothing. batchMessageId withdrawn β€” no tenth field.

How one message per batch is achieved with no stored state at all: Inngest debounce keyed on event.data.chatId. A batch is not something Telegram tells us about β€” 34 photos are 34 separate updates, and 34 runs finish reading at 34 different moments β€” so every photo and every completed read fires an event, and one invocation runs when the chat goes quiet (25 s for arrivals, 90 s for reads, reading is the slow part). Counts are read from Firestore at send time, never tallied from the events, so the number is the truth however many collapsed.

The bot's entire voice is now three messages, in lib/inngest/receipt-batch-notices.ts: photos arrived and need a business purpose, N are ready for your check (naming how many need a proper look β€” low confidence, a rejected de-warp, a fallback crop, or a suspected duplicate), and a daily 09:00 HKT expiring tomorrow warning. That last one closes the loop this task opened: the reason 78 receipts could sit unfiled from May to September is that the 7-day deadline lived inside a paused run where nothing could see it. expiresAt made it visible; the cron acts on it. It needs no "already warned" marker because a 24-hour window and a daily run can only coincide once.

What stopped happening: no note prompt, no caption read-back (a caption is still taken as the note β€” the sheet shows it filled in, ready to edit β€” but the confirmation round trip existed only because a chat cannot show a field), no subsidiary picker, no status narration, no summary card, no duplicate side-by-side photo. awaiting: 'note' is now the single arrival state; 'note-confirm' meant "waiting for you to accept the caption I read back", a question nobody asks any more.

What was deliberately NOT deleted: the note force-reply handler, the picker callback, and the summary card's callbacks. Nothing sends those prompts, so nothing can answer them β€” but they are left in place until the sheet is proven in production, because restoring the chat path is then one call rather than a revert. That is the same ship-then-retire rule this task's phasing was built on. Deleting them is a follow-up.

Two per-receipt notices survive on purpose: a photo that is not a receipt, and a re-run that failed. Both are rare, both need the person to act, and in each case the row is cleared or unchanged so the sheet could not carry the message. Silencing them would have traded a tidy chat for a receipt that vanished without saying why.

Also landed: setChatMenuButton (type web_app) from the existing /api/telegram/setup endpoint, so one request after a deploy puts a permanent door beside the chat input β€” the notices' own buttons scroll away, that one does not.

Verified: tsc --noEmit --incremental false exit 0; eslint clean on every file touched; vitest 922/926 (the 4 are the pre-existing billing-ingest tests needing GCP credentials). Nothing is deployed β€” see "Verify on the first deploy" above, particularly the Inngest debounce check, which the whole one-message-per-batch promise rests on and which could not be tested from the sandbox. - 2026-09-03 β€” Phase 4: a receipt can now be taken inside the sheet. The owner's "could we abandon messaging to the bot altogether and for the users to interact with the mini app only?" is answered in full: the sheet has a πŸ“· Add receipts button that opens the camera or the photo library, and the photo never passes through Telegram.

The one structural question, and how it was answered without a field. The row's fileId was a Telegram handle the worker redeems later; an app upload has no such handle. Rather than a second field, fileId gains a scheme β€” gcs:<object> β€” mirroring the drive: prefix storagePath has used all along, so every reader can tell where a receipt's image lives from the value it already reads. Two call sites branch on it and nothing else changes: the worker's download-photo step and the sheet's photo endpoint. Everything downstream β€” crop, read, review, Drive, the books β€” is byte-identical whichever way the receipt arrived.

What it buys beyond one fewer step: Telegram's Bot API refuses to hand us any file over 20 MB, a real ceiling on a modern phone camera, and nothing on this path goes through it. The size limit that does apply is Inngest's step-output cap, and the guard for it (assertPipelineSize) was pulled out of the Telegram branch so both intake paths check it β€” a photo straight off a phone camera can trip it just as an uncompressed Telegram document can.

Checks on the way in: initData as always; the bytes are sniffed for a real JPEG/PNG signature rather than trusting Content-Type (with an error naming HEIC and its fix, since an iPhone is the realistic cause); 15 MB cap enforced while reading rather than after; and a ceiling on how many receipts one person may have open. The body is raw rather than JSON β€” 5 MB of photo is 6.7 MB base64'd β€” and initData rides in a header, never a URL.

chatId is set to the person's own user id, because in a Telegram private chat those are the same number. So a receipt uploaded in the app still gets the "ready for your check" nudge in the chat, which is the whole reason the bot was kept. No arrival notice fires on this path: the person is looking at the sheet, and telling them what they just did is noise.

Cleanup now deletes the staging folder by prefix rather than one named file, since a sheet-uploaded receipt has an original there as well as a preview, with different extensions.

Verified: tsc --noEmit --incremental false exit 0; eslint clean on every file touched; vitest 928/932 (the 4 are the pre-existing billing-ingest tests needing GCP credentials), including 6 new tests on the gcs: scheme and the staged-original paths. Untested from the sandbox and worth a look on a real phone: whether Telegram's in-app browser offers both camera and library from the file input, and whether iOS hands over JPEG or HEIC. - 2026-09-03 β€” DEPLOYED to production. Owner: "If deploy is needed for it to run, deploy it" β€” an explicit standalone instruction, so the AGENTS.md deploy guardrail is satisfied for this one deployment and nothing after it.

Pre-merge gate run in full rather than by halves, because main not type-checking silently blocks every agent's deploy: fresh npm ci, then unfiltered tsc --noEmit --incremental false (exit 0), then npm run build. The build failed the first time β€” Failed to collect page data for /v/[id], "Bucket name not specified or invalid" β€” and the instinct to blame the change was wrong. The cause is lib/storage/receipts.ts:18, which calls storage.bucket(BUCKET_NAME) at module scope, so an unset NEXT_PUBLIC_FIREBASE_STORAGE_BUCKET throws at import. This branch touches nothing under lib/storage/ or pages/v/, and re-running the build with the Firebase env present succeeded (/tg/receipts 8.06 kB). A sandbox-env artefact, not a defect β€” but worth its own ticket: module-scope bucket construction in four files (receipts, invoices, profiles, wopc) means any build without that env fails on an unrelated page, which is a booby trap for the next person who builds locally.

Merged as squash d075e6b (PR #1007), then the production deploy fired via the Secret-Manager VERCEL_DEPLOY_HOOK per AGENTS.md β€” main is 🟑🟑, a push does not deploy. Deployment dpl_C8f1mDH1JLBSXZmxx2wqCDJhPviY on d075e6b, Vercel project eop (team tebs).

Two owner-side steps remain, neither of which an agent can do: 1. https://eop.theestablishers.com/api/telegram/setup?bot=receipt&key=<TELEGRAM_RECEIPT_WEBHOOK_SECRET> β€” re-registers the webhook, the command list and the new menu button in one call. Read the menuButton field: if Telegram refuses the domain, fix it in BotFather (/mybots β†’ the bot β†’ Bot Settings β†’ Menu Button) and re-run. 2. The behaviour check the whole batch design rests on: send three photos, expect ONE message. - 2026-09-03 β€” Deploy verified live. dpl_C8f1mDH1JLBSXZmxx2wqCDJhPviY reached READY on d075e6b; https://eop.theestablishers.com/tg/receipts went 404 β†’ 200, which is a clean readiness probe because that page had never existed in production before.

Post-deploy checks, all done from here rather than left to the owner: - Inngest picked up the new functions. PUT /api/inngest β†’ {"message":"Successfully registered","modified":true}. modified: true is the point: the registered function set changed, i.e. the three new functions landed. (GET is Unauthorized in production by design.) - /api/telegram/setup ran clean: webhook already set with pending_update_count: 0, commands ok, and β€” the one that was flagged as uncertain β€” menuButton: {ok: true}. Telegram accepted the Mini App URL without any BotFather step, so that caveat is closed rather than pending.

The one thing still unverified is behavioural and needs a person: send three photos and expect ONE message. Everything about the batch design rests on Inngest debounce actually collapsing the events, and no amount of registration output proves that β€” only three photos do.

Also unverified, and only a phone can settle it: whether Telegram's in-app browser offers both the camera and the photo library from the sheet's file input, and whether iOS hands over JPEG or HEIC.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The sheet redone on four owner asks, made while looking at the live app. Not deployed (owner: "Give me a re-design preview when everything is done. Do not deploy"). Preview, tappable, with the sheet's own CSS: https://claude.ai/code/artifact/5023a040-3fd7-408f-9df6-782454c6bef3
  • Opening screen. The house mark ("E." in Rampart One, as the app header draws it β€” there is no logo file in the repo, the header IS the text) over "Loading" in Figtree, the dots counting one, two, three; centred on the page. Replaces the receipt circle and "Opening your receipts…".
  • Everything fades, 0.3 s in and out. Screens cross-fade (out, then in β€” never both at once); opened rows, the company list, the line items, the enlarged photo and upload errors fade. The catch is that React removes an element the instant its condition turns false, so a fade-OUT needs the element held on screen for the fade's length β€” a small Fade wrapper does that, and the screen switch is driven by a lagging copy of the phase for the same reason. Filing a batch moves the phase to 'submitting' but is deliberately NOT a screen change.
  • Tap a thumbnail to enlarge it; tap anywhere else to put it back. The row strip was one button, and a button inside a button is invalid HTML, so the header is now two controls side by side. The thumbnail already holds the full picture (it is the full fetch scaled by CSS), so it hands its copy to the enlarged view and nothing is downloaded twice. The check-it panel's big preview enlarges on the same tap. Escape closes it on the desktop client.
  • "Files under" is one line with the list only on request. ERL is chosen by default β€” now named outright in lib/telegram/receiptFilingDefault.ts (+6 tests) rather than derived as "the first switched-on company", which only agreed with ERL by accident. Companies that cannot be filed to are greyed with a small red cross drawn in SVG, not an emoji (owner: "better not use an emoji"), so it is the same red on every phone. The list opens in flow rather than floating: the row clips its overflow to keep its corners, and a floating menu would be cut in half.

Verified on this branch: 962/962 tests across 97 files, unfiltered type-check clean, lint clean. On the real phone, still to see: the fades under Telegram's in-app browser, and whether the enlarged photo reads well at full screen.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” Three revisions after the owner looked at the preview, same branch, still not deployed. Preview updated in place: https://claude.ai/code/artifact/5023a040-3fd7-408f-9df6-782454c6bef3
  • "Loading" was off-centre. The dots had a reserved 1.5 em box beside the word, so what got centred was "Loading" plus a blank, and the word sat a dot and a half left of the middle. Now the WORD is centred and the dots hang off its right edge, taking no room in the line.
  • A row opens by growing, not by fading (owner: "I wanna see the tab expandING instead, with the text sort of gets revealed from the expanding of the tab/card"). The card animates from closed to its full height and the content comes into view as the card makes room β€” nothing inside fades. Height is unknown in advance, so it is the CSS grid trick (one track, 0fr β†’ 1fr) rather than a measured pixel height. The company list and the line items open the same way. Screens still cross-fade; the enlarged photo and error lines still fade.
  • The check-it panel no longer carries a second copy of the picture. The thumbnail is the way to it: tap it to see the receipt large, tap the photo THERE to flip between the person's own picture and the straightened one, tap anywhere else to put it back. A caption at the foot says which copy is up. The first view costs no download (the thumbnail hands over what it already has); the flip is the one download, and it is kept so the way back is free. The "De-warping did not take" warning now points at the picture at the top rather than a picture below.

Verified: unfiltered type-check clean, lint clean, Telegram test folder 133/133. On a phone, still to see: whether Telegram's in-app browser animates the grid-row trick (Safari 16+ / Chrome 107+ do; an older engine opens the row without the motion, which is the intended degradation).

  • 2026-09-05 β€” Two more from the owner's comments on the preview, same branch, not deployed.
  • The opening dots count nothing, one, two, three (owner: "Should be '', '.', '..', '...'"), four beats rather than three.
  • The category is a picker, not nineteen chips (owner, on the chips: "Make these panes a dropdown instead"). The company picker became THE picker, used by both; the category list scrolls inside itself, about five and a half rows tall, and opens with the current choice in view.

Two further comments are not built yet because they need the AI reading to exist before the note β€” the row showing the receipt's date rather than the arrival time, and the row's subtitle showing the shop rather than the note. Today the worker (and so the reading) only starts once the note and company are given, so a waiting row has no date and no shop to show. Put to the owner as a chain decision: read on arrival, then take the note.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The reading moves to arrival (owner, on being told the row could not show the receipt's date or the shop until the note was in: "Then build a new one"). Same branch, not deployed. Preview updated: https://claude.ai/code/artifact/5023a040-3fd7-408f-9df6-782454c6bef3

What a person gets. Within seconds of a photo landing β€” from the chat or the sheet's camera β€” its row shows the receipt's own date (house MMM DD, YYYY form, with the printed time) and the shop and total, before they have written a word. Four things the reading can find turn the row red, say why where the date would be, offer Discard, and refuse File until fixed: the photo is not a receipt; it is too blurry to read; it prints no date (the row asks for it, and a date typed there clears it); it is already on file β€” same shop, same printed number. Every waiting row now has a Discard of its own, which it never had.

How. A new job (lib/inngest/receipt-arrival.ts) runs on a new event both intake paths send the moment the row exists: collect the photo, one Gemini reading, one "already on file?" query against the default company, then the reading onto the row. The worker takes that reading at its claim step instead of reading again, so the only extra cost is one reading per photo later discarded. Collecting the photo was pulled out of the worker into one shared collector (lib/telegram/receiptCollect.ts) that looks in staging first, so the second job never downloads or re-encodes what the first parked; the sheet's photo endpoint reads the same staged copy rather than redeeming the Telegram handle for every thumbnail. The "can it be filed?" rule is one client-safe module (lib/telegram/receiptReadiness.ts, +13 tests) used by the sheet to draw the row and by the submit endpoint to refuse the receipt whatever the page sent. The action endpoint handles Discard and a typed date on a row not yet filed by acting on the row directly β€” there is no worker listening for it yet.

Deliberately not done. Only a STRONG match (shop + printed number) is flagged at arrival; a weak one (shop, date, total) still waits for the worker's confirm-time "you sure?", because two coffees on one day collide on that key and a red row for a real receipt is worse than a late warning. The in-batch check (two photos of one receipt sent seconds apart) stays where it was, at File time β€” it needs the atomic claim, and the arrival reading has no company chosen yet. Everything on the arrival path is best-effort: a failure leaves the row unread and the worker reads at File time exactly as before, so a receipt can never be lost or blocked by the early look.

Firestore: no structure change. The arrival job writes stage, parsed, originalParsed and flags β€” the four fields the worker already writes β€” earlier; a typed date updates parsed.transactionDate in place. No new field, no new collection.

Verified: unfiltered type-check clean; 975/975 tests across 98 files (962 + 13); lint clean on every touched file except two errors that pre-date this work on main (a require() in the worker's notify step and a stray semicolon in the Inngest handler). Not exercised here: a live round trip through Inngest β€” the new function needs a sync after deploy, like the three notices did.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The owner's five-step flow, built (owner: *"1. OCR … 2. substantiation notes …
  • crosscheck … 4. process the image … 5. officially submitted"*, with three refinements the next turn). Same branch, not deployed. Preview updated in place.

What a person gets. Open a waiting row and the six figures the AI read are there to check β€” shop, date, time, receipt number, total, currency β€” pre-filled and editable, each with its own red where it is missing or clashes. The date's red means required (owner: "No date, no submission"); the red on the number and the time is advisory, with a placeholder asking for them, because many receipts print neither (owner: "genuinely allow user to skip"). A clash with a receipt on file reddens the number and the shop for correction β€” the AI may have misread them β€” with one link, "It is a different receipt, file it anyway", for the shop that reuses numbers. The note and the company appear once the red is gone (step 2 after step 1). After File, the check-it panel is about the picture: one line saying what will be filed, the picture via the thumbnail, "Looks right, file it", "Straighten it again", and a new "Use my photo instead"; the figures sit under "Check the details" for the case where straightening revealed something.

The clash check runs every time the information changes, not only at the first reading (owner: "make sure that the checking of existing receipt doesn't just check upon initial OCR"): at arrival, after every edit to the row, and again inside the worker at File time. One shared check (lib/telegram/receiptClash.ts) for the first two; the worker keeps its own call because it also holds the in-batch claim. Same items, different printed numbers: no flag β€” the number decides (owner's rule 3; already how the books check behaves, and the shared check inherits it).

How. receiptNumber and transactionTime join the editable figures end to end: the sheet, the action endpoint's validation (+3 tests), the worker's edit handling, and the row-direct write for a receipt not yet filed. A new worker action, use-original, files the person's own photo as the display copy (marked as a crop fallback so the panel says no straightening will be applied). A new row-direct action, dismiss-duplicate, clears the clash flag. The action endpoint now reads the row before it parses the action, so the two row-direct kinds are handled without touching the worker's action type.

Waiting on the owner: the storage question for the two remaining duplicate kinds β€” same number as another photo in the batch, and the amber "looks like one on file" when there is no number to compare β€” asked as its own question (one key, duplicateOf.kind, inside the existing map). Built the moment it is answered; the prefix-on-id alternative was considered and put to the owner too.

Firestore: no structure change in this commit. Edits write parsed.<field> and flags.duplicateOf β€” both existing β€” in place.

Verified: unfiltered type-check clean; 978/978 across 98 files; lint clean on every touched file bar the two pre-existing errors on main.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” Each receipt can go on its own, and two photos of one receipt resolve with one tap (owner: "each receipt that are stuck with necessary information missing, the pane should have a sort of proceed button … while for duplicated of receipts within the same batch, allow user to pick either one of the same receipt, and that the mini app should automatically erase the other"). Same branch, not deployed. Preview updated in place.

What a person gets. Every waiting row has its own "File this one" beside Discard, so a receipt held back by a missing figure goes the moment it is fixed rather than waiting for the batch; the button at the foot still files everything that is ready at once. Two photos of one receipt β€” same shop, same printed number β€” both go red as "Same as another photo you sent", each offers "Keep this one", and keeping either removes the other.

Nothing is stored for the batch case. Which photos are the same receipt is worked out from the rows that are waiting, every time they are read (lib/telegram/receiptBatchDuplicates.ts, +8 tests): the list endpoint to draw the rows, the submit endpoint to refuse an unresolved pair, and the action endpoint to remove the rest of a group when one is kept β€” the group is worked out on the server from the rows, never taken from the page, so a stale page cannot name the wrong photo to delete. When one is discarded the other clears on its own, with no write and no field that could go stale. That is what withdrew the batch half of the duplicateOf.kind storage question; only the amber "looks like one on file" case still turns on it. The matching rule mirrors the books' own strong match (number normalised, scoped to the shop, date required for short numbers); photos with no usable number are never grouped, and the worker's in-batch claim at File time still catches what this cannot.

Firestore: no structure change.

Verified: unfiltered type-check clean; 988/988 across 99 files; lint clean on every touched file.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The amber likeness, without the storage key (owner: "Proceed to build it please"). Same branch, not deployed. Preview updated in place.

What a person gets. A waiting receipt that matches one on file by shop, date and total but prints no usable number turns amber, not red: "Looks like one already on file", with the receipt it resembles named in the row, and the choice left to the person β€” discard if it is the same one, carry on if it is a second purchase. Typing a number runs the check again and the number decides.

How, and why no new field. The storage question asked for one key, duplicateOf.kind, to tell a red clash from an amber likeness. It turned out the row already says which: the books' strong match needs a usable printed number on this side, and the weak match is now only recorded when this side has none (lib/telegram/receiptClash.ts). So a match on a row with a usable number can only be red, and a match on a row without one can only be amber β€” isLikeness in receiptReadiness.ts (+4 tests) reads that off the row. The one stored field carries both; the readiness rule blocks only the red. The question is withdrawn: Firestore: no structure change.

Verified: unfiltered type-check clean; 992/992 across 99 files; lint clean on every touched file.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The light, the "+", and the offline gates (owner, on the preview: "Transform the Add button into just a circular '+' icon, while on the same height but on the left end of the screen, show the work system health light … Green for all worker online, flashing red for any workers not online while do not allow user to proceed the receipt with stages involve works that are not online"). Same branch. Deploy commanded in the same message: "once you've implemented what I said, then you can proceed to commit and deploy the app".

What a person gets. A strip above the list: a round light on the left, a round "+" on the right in place of the wide Add button. The light is green when every worker that is set up answers, flashing red when any does not (still red, not flashing, for a phone set to reduce motion), grey until the first answer. Tap it for the full list β€” cropper and finder on the NAS, reading, Drive and the books on Google β€” each with online / offline and the error, or "not set up". While a worker is offline the stages that need it wait: File (its own and the foot button) when straightening is offline, or when reading is offline and the receipt has not been read; "Looks right, file it" when Drive or the books are offline; "Read it again" and "Straighten it again" likewise. The button says why.

How, and why no document. lib/telegram/receiptHealth.ts probes each worker with one cheap, read-only call β€” the GCP Billing Helper's probes from #1011, taken with thanks and trimmed of the persistence β€” cached a minute per instance, served by a new session-verified endpoint the sheet asks off the critical path on open and about every minute after. Nothing is stored: a light and a gate need only "now". The part that needs memory β€” one Telegram message when a worker drops and one when it is back β€” is what #1011 keeps, and it still waits on the owner's answer about the systemHealth/workers document. The gate is in the sheet only; the worker's own retries and fallbacks still guard the server side, and a transient probe miss must not refuse a File the worker would have handled.

Firestore: no structure change.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” Merged and deployed (owner: "once you've implemented what I said, then you can proceed to commit and deploy the app" β€” one-off, this deploy only). PR #1012 merged as a merge commit, 98bb74a, after the pre-merge gate: fresh npm ci, unfiltered type-check clean, 992/992 tests across 99 files. The production deploy fired via the Secret-Manager VERCEL_DEPLOY_HOOK; deployment dpl_AjmveqJ1a1SwTFNqbigzbxh4resF on 98bb74a reached READY at 14:25 UTC, aliased to eop.theestablishers.com. Readiness probe: the served /tg/receipts carries the new sheet's own styling (the light's rule), which the old sheet never had.

Post-deploy, done from here: - Inngest picked up the arrival reader. PUT /api/inngest β†’ {"message":"Successfully registered","modified":true} β€” the registered function set changed, i.e. read-receipt-on-arrival and its failure handler landed. - The new health endpoint answers (401 without a Telegram session, as it should). - The other agent's #1011 told what remains for it (the alerts and the document question), and that it needs rebasing onto this. The #1012 check-in routine and PR subscription closed.

Still needs a person, on a phone: send one photo and watch its row say "Reading the receipt…" and then show the shop and the date; open it and see the six figures; send the same photo twice and see "Keep this one"; tap the light. And the two from earlier: three photos, one chat message; and whether Telegram's browser offers both the camera and the library from the "+".

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The light called Gemini offline; it was not. Owner, looking at the live list: "Gemini is offline, does it truly mean that it's offline?" No. The probe asked Vertex for the model at an address under the project (projects/…/locations/…/publishers/google/models/…), which does not exist β€” Vertex answers 404 β€” while the reading itself is a POST to a different address and was fine throughout. Checked both ways from here before changing anything: 404 under the project, 200 at the root (/v1/publishers/google/models/{model} on the regional host). The probe now asks at the root. Until this is deployed the light is wrongly red and "Read it again" and File-for-an-unread- receipt are wrongly held; the arrival reading and the worker are unaffected, because they never consulted the light. A probe inherited from #1011 and not exercised against the live service before shipping β€” the lesson is that a probe needs one real answer before it is trusted to gate anything.

Also asked: "Receipt finder is 'not set up', is it in our work chain?" Not today. It is the newer paper-finder (MobileSAM) the other agent built in front of the cropper; its image is built but it runs nowhere, because the two NAS commands that would start it (the tunnel route and the container) were refused by that agent's sandbox. RECEIPT_SEGMENTER_URL is unset, so the chain goes cropper β†’ local crop as it has for weeks, and the light lists it as "not set up" rather than offline β€” correctly, and without counting against the green.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The status bar removed ("N ready to file Β· N need a note Β· N to check"). Owner: "I have previously asked for the … status bar to be removed" β€” an ask this session missed; done now. The row colours and the foot button carry what it said: green frame for ready, amber text for a missing note, red for anything held, and "File N receipts" for the count.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The GCP Billing Helper's handoff, read and acted on (owner: "you'll be in charge of the whole Telegram matter"; the other agent's notes are in T-207's log). Three things done here, in one PR, all on main and none deployed β€” the deploy word covers #1013, #1014 and this together.

  • The photo collector measured the wrong bytes. The 3 MB cap exists for what rides through Inngest step state, which is the normalised working copy β€” yet on the Telegram path it was checked on the raw download, before the normaliser had bounded anything. A receipt "sent as File" from a phone (4–6 MB) was refused with "send a compressed photo" for a size it would never have had. The cap now sits after the normaliser, on the working copy; Telegram's own 20 MB download limit bounds the raw fetch. Two tests pin the order (__tests__/lib/telegram/receiptCollect.test.ts). The sheet's upload path was already right β€” it normalises before staging and the cap meets those bytes.

  • A finder outage no longer holds filing. The sheet shut the crop stage when the cropper or the finder was down; the crop never needs the finder (one that does not answer is skipped and the cropper takes over), so wiring the finder up would have made the sheet less available. The crop stage is gated on the cropper alone. The light keeps the owner's rule β€” red when any worker is offline β€” because the finder being down is still worth seeing. Nothing changes today: the finder is "not set up", which shuts nothing either way.
  • The board mirror stopped wiping the other agent. scripts/sync-taskboard.sh copies docs/eop-tasks/ from main with delete, and the other agent's T-208, their T-207 log, three decision rows and the T-209 pointer lived only on their unmerged branch β€” every mirror from here removed them from the live board. Carried onto main as an append (main's newer decision rows kept; their three inserted where they sat; T-207's log taken whole, since main's copy had not moved). Pointer now T-209.

Not done, and why. The three probes in #1011's own lib/health/probes.ts still ask Vertex at the address #1013 corrected β€” when #1011 is rebased its probes should import from receiptHealth.ts (one place to be right); that rebase waits on the owner's systemHealth/workers answer. The three duplicate passes (arrival, File precheck, Confirm) and the retired-but-wired redraw are tidy-ups for a quieter day, not fixes. The finder's two NAS commands (tunnel route and container) are mine to run and still unrun.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The finder on the NAS: tried, and stopped at the sandbox. Owner: "Try and build the finder on the NAS now." Verified from here, read-only, before touching anything: the NAS answers through the tunnel; the cropper is up; the DSM credentials and the Cloudflare token are in this sandbox and both work (token active, account and zone found); the tunnel's live config (version 8) routes nas, eop, p-eop, ssh-nas, render and crop and has no segment route; DNS has crop, nas and render as proxied CNAMEs to the tunnel and no segment; the finder image was built once by CI on 2026-09-05 (run 1, success, from #1010's merge) and is not readable anonymously β€” 403 on the manifest with and without this sandbox's GitHub token β€” so the pull will lean on the NAS's own GHCR login.

Then three writes, and the sandbox's classifier refused all three: the read-only room check over the root-exec channel (free -m, docker ps, the GHCR-login count), the tunnel-ingress PUT with the segment β†’ localhost:8093 route inserted before the catch-all, and the proxied segment CNAME. The same wall the other agent hit, one step wider: the Cloudflare writes are refused here too. Not worked around β€” the refusal's own guidance is to stop and let the owner decide. What was written instead is the tooling, so the next attempt is a run and not a rewrite: scripts/nas/cmd.py (the documented _cmd channel: upload, trigger task 4, poll _cmd.out; needs DSM_account/DSM_password), scripts/nas/finder-01-room.sh (the check, names only), scripts/nas/finder-02-up.sh (pull and run on the box; the secret is read from the cropper's env file there and never leaves the NAS; waits for /health) and scripts/nas/finder-03-route.py (tunnel route + CNAME, idempotent). Two ways forward, owner's call: allow this session's Bash to run those two scripts, or run steps 01–03 by hand from a DSM terminal and the Cloudflare dashboard. Step 5 (RECEIPT_SEGMENTER_URL in Vercel) is a deploy and waits for the deploy word either way.

Tried once more at the owner's word ("you should have the ability to jump out of the sandbox") with the sandbox switched off for the command: refused the same way. The wall is the permission classifier that judges each command, not the sandbox around it, so the flag changes nothing; what does is a permission rule for the two scripts, which only the owner adds.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The light: red for a worker the chain needs, blinking yellow for one it runs without. Owner, after the chain map: "Change the light to show red only when any necessary worker is offline … if the last worker is offline, show a blinking yellow light instead." The last worker in that map is the finder, which the cropper stands in for, so the health module now says which worker is optional (optional: true on the finder; passed through in the answer) and the sheet's lamp has a third state: green when every set-up worker answers, yellow and blinking when only an optional worker is down, red and blinking when any other is. The list tags the finder "optional" and says the cropper stands in. The gates are unchanged β€” the crop stage is already gated on the cropper alone, reading on Gemini, filing on Drive and Firestore β€” and the confirm-only idea for Drive still waits on the owner.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” "Go": the route is in, the NAS is not answering. The owner added the two allow rules themselves (f8e93f2) and the channel helper ran past the classifier for the first time. Two things found at once. Cloudflare's edge in front of the NAS returns a plain 403 to Python's default user agent before the request reaches the tunnel, so scripts/nas/cmd.py now names itself (fixed here). And the tunnel itself has had no connections since 16:40:33Z β€” nas, crop and the new segment hostnames all answer 530 (origin unreachable), and the Cloudflare API says the tunnel is down, so the cropper is offline for the live sheet as well and receipts fall to the rough crop inside the app until the NAS reconnects. Nothing from here can reach the box; the cloudflared container or the NAS itself needs a look. What did land: the tunnel route segment.theestablishers.com β†’ localhost:8093 before the catch-all (config version 9) and the proxied CNAME, both by scripts/nas/finder-03-route.py; from outside the new hostname now fails exactly like the others, which is the route working against a dead tunnel. A check-in is armed for 17:45Z to re-probe and run steps 01–02 the moment the tunnel is back. Step 5, the Vercel variable, is a deploy and waits for the deploy word.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” Two comments on the preview, both applied. "Remove this" on the status bar: gone from the preview; in the app it went in #1014 and waits on the deploy word. "Change this to Figtree font" on a row's second line (the shop and total, or the reason a receipt is held): the row's second line is now Figtree in the app and in the preview; the first line was already the system sans. Both threads answered and resolved on the artifact.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The NAS is back; the finder's image will not pull; a workflow does what a shell cannot. Owner: "can you check whether you can reach the NAS now?" The tunnel reconnected at 19:03Z (four connections) and the cropper answers again. Room check: 4 threads, up 19 days, 605 GB free on the volume, 648 MB of memory available with the renderer, cropper, bank-login and Home Assistant running β€” under the ~1 GB the finder wants at batch 8, so batch 4 to start. The pull was refused (denied): the GHCR login in the NAS's docker config, user girafeev1, has expired β€” it cannot pull even eop-bank-login, which it pulled two months ago. The same problem was solved for the app image in T-091: a workflow logs the NAS in with its run's own token, pulls, and moves on. So .github/workflows/segmenter-deploy.yml does exactly that for the finder β€” manual only, inputs for the batch size and the memory cap, the secret read from the cropper's env file on the box, waits for /health, removes the container if it does not come up so the box is not left thrashing, logs out of GHCR after the pull so no stale token is left behind. scripts/nas/finder-02-up.sh stays as the by-hand version for a box that can pull.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The finder is up on the NAS. Run 1 of the deploy workflow: login with the run's token, pull in 80 s, /health after 9 s, and from outside segment.theestablishers.com/health answers ok. With the finder idle the box has 390 MB available (the container sits at ~360 MB). One real crop of a 2000 px test receipt, sent from the box with its own secret: HTTP 200, no fallback, a straightened JPEG back β€” in 50–52 s, three runs, at batch 4, with the container peaking at 850 MB. That is inside the app's 60 s abort on the crop step by a hair, and the tunnel and the upload sit on top, so as it stands the app would time out on some receipts and fall to the cropper. The handoff's next lever is fewer prompts (points_per_side 12 β†’ 10, 144 β†’ 100). Made an environment variable (SAM_POINTS_PER_SIDE, default 12, so nothing changes for anyone not setting it) and a workflow input defaulting to 10 for the NAS; rebuild and redeploy follow, then the same timed test.

  • 2026-09-05 β€” The finder is done on the NAS. Rebuilt with the prompt count as an environment variable (build run 2), redeployed at 100 prompts (deploy run 2, batch 4, 1536 MB cap): /health ok from outside, and the same 2000 px test receipt straightens in 37–38 s (two runs; 50–52 s at 144 prompts), HTTP 200, no fallback, the container peaking at 898 MB. Looked at the output: the tilted paper comes back upright and fills the frame, with only a thin green sliver at the foot β€” what the handoff said success looks like. scripts/nas/finder-02-up.sh now defaults to the same settings. What remains is the app: RECEIPT_SEGMENTER_URL=https://segment.theestablishers.com in Vercel is a deploy and waits for the deploy word, with #1013, #1014, #1015, #1017 and #1019. Until then the chain keeps going cropper β†’ local crop, and the light lists the finder as "not set up".

  • 2026-09-05 β€” Deployed (owner: "proceed to commit all work that we've done then deploy", after confirming the preview artifact is behind the app β€” it has no light and the old dashed add button β€” and that main carries every ask: the "+" and the light with its three states, the growing rows, the lightbox, the two pickers with the drawn cross, the dots, the Figtree second line, no status bar, reading on arrival, the six red-able figures, no date no filing, batch duplicates, per-row File). RECEIPT_SEGMENTER_URL=https://segment.theestablishers.com set on the Vercel project for production (plain, one target; the secret falls back to the cropper's). Deploy hook β†’ dpl_D2gNDaJySUuoAGyudUDBBG2YtgZs READY on main 3c44731, aliased to eop.theestablishers.com; PUT /api/inngest "Successfully registered, modified: true"; the live sheet serves the new page. Live now, in one go: #1013 (the light asks Vertex at the right address), #1014 (status bar gone), #1015 (size cap on the working copy, crop gated on the cropper alone), #1017 (yellow for the finder), #1019 (Figtree), and the finder in the chain. The light's finder row should now read "online". Owner-side check on a phone: one receipt through, the straightened image should fill the frame with only thin green slivers, and the crop step's log should carry no "SAM segmenter non-OK" line.

  • 2026-09-06 β€” Three more comments on the preview, applied to the app and the preview. "The File 1 receipt button should stick to the bottom on this UI, instead of the screen (even following a zoomed screen, that's annoying)": the foot button was pinned to the viewport (position: sticky), so it followed a pinch-zoomed view around; it now sits at the end of the sheet's content β€” on a short list still at the bottom of the screen, because the sheet fills it. "Is it possible for the phone not to auto zoom-in when clicking on an editable field?": yes β€” an iPhone zooms the page when a text field smaller than 16 px takes focus, and every field was 13.5 px; all text fields are 16 px now. "Add a 'x' (close) button overlaying on the image on the top right corner": a drawn white cross in a round button below the notch, closing the enlarged photo alongside the tap-anywhere-else way out. A fourth comment re-posting the "+" and light ask was withdrawn by the owner ("please ignore the add button comment") β€” it is live already. Merged, not deployed: the deploy word is per turn.

  • 2026-09-06 β€” "None of my recent receipt submissions have been straightened" β€” found, fixed, awaiting the deploy word. The finder's own log on the NAS shows the owner's photos this morning arriving one behind another and every one of them straightened, paper filling the frame, in 30–34 s each. The cropper's log shows the same photos arriving right after. That is the app giving up on the finder: the worker runs two receipts at once, the finder holds a single model and answers one request at a time, so the second request waited ~32 s behind the first and its own ~32 s ran past the step's 60 s; the finder then kept working on a request nobody wanted, the next request queued behind that, and from the second receipt on every finder call timed out. Worse, the finder's abort was the whole 60 s the step has, so the function was cut off before the cropper could stand in, the step retried, and the retry landed on the still-busy finder. Two changes: the worker crops one receipt at a time (RECEIPT_WORKER_CONCURRENCY=1 on the Vercel project, production; the arrival reader gets its own RECEIPT_ARRIVAL_CONCURRENCY, still 2, because reading has no such limit), and the finder gets 45 s of the step, so the cropper fallback and the polish still fit inside the 60 s when it does not answer. A batch is slower end to end (~40 s a receipt, in the background) and stops timing out. If that is too slow, the next lever is 64 prompts (~20 s) at some risk of missing a small receipt.

  • 2026-09-06 β€” Two questions from the owner. "Why does the mini app not react when I add a batch?" Because the sheet uploaded the batch one photo at a time and only refreshed the list after the whole batch: twenty photos over mobile data is minutes with nothing moving but a small line of text, and a stalled upload had no timeout, so the "+" stayed disabled until the sheet was reopened. Now a row appears the moment each photo lands, the "+" itself turns into the count while a batch is going up, each upload gives up after 90 s so the button comes back, and Vercel's 4.5 MB refusal (which arrives as a page, not JSON) is named with the way round β€” send that one to the chat. "Can we speed the process up safely with nothing missed?" Yes: the finder was decoding every candidate mask and running GrabCut at the photo's full 2000 px, though SAM's encoder resizes to 1024 px regardless β€” so it now finds the paper on a 1024 px working copy (SAM_WORK_LONG_SIDE), scales the corners back and warps the full-resolution photo; the model sees the same picture and the output is the same picture. Rebuild and timed test follow. Fewer prompts (64) is the lever after that, safe because the area filter already discards anything under 5 % of the frame.

  • 2026-09-06 β€” The finder, measured at each step (same 2000 px test receipt on the DS723+, the crop the same picture every time β€” paper 100 % of the frame, corners within a pixel): 144 prompts at full size 50–52 s Β· 100 prompts 37–38 s Β· 100 prompts on the 1024 px working copy 24–25 s Β· 64 prompts on the copy with torch on all four hardware threads 17 s, container peak 747 MB. The model is now all of it (16 s of 17); the refine and the warp are one second. Deployed to the NAS as run 4 of the workflow; the by-hand script and the README carry the same settings and the table. The worker stays at one receipt at a time: two at once would put the second at 34 s in the worst case against the 45 s budget, which is thinner than the cascade of 2026-09-06 morning deserves; a batch of thirty runs in about ten minutes in the background. That figure is the owner's to trade.

  • 2026-09-06 β€” The owner's batch, traced end to end (owner: "look at how my batch went down the chain and see whether it makes sense"). Read from the rows in aote-system and the runs in Inngest, not from memory. Ten photos uploaded from the sheet at 04:40–04:41Z; all ten read on arrival within a minute (shop, date, total on every row); notes written; ten filings at 04:43–04:55Z. Every one was straightened β€” every row holds a staged straightened preview β€” and the owner confirmed eight of them ("Looks right, file it"); two are still at the check-it panel after "Straighten it again" twice each, waiting for a decision, correctly. Then the eight crashed on the last write: the books' document carries metadata.telegram.summaryMessageId, which is the chat card's message id, and a receipt filed from the sheet has no chat card, so it was undefined, and Firestore rejects a whole document for one undefined β€” after the crop, after the confirm, after both images had gone to Drive. Inngest retried the run for hours (two failed at 05:48Z, six at 12:06–12:08Z), and on every retry the bare "Cropping receipt…" status line outside any step ran again and wrote straightening back onto a row the person had already confirmed β€” which is exactly what the owner saw: "already straightened, but upon filing it goes back through straightening". When the runs finally failed, the failure handler only sent a chat message, and the rows stayed "in flight" with no button to press. So the chain's design was right; a write that never happened before Phase 3 (every receipt had a chat card until then) and two small omissions around it were wrong. Three fixes: undefined is stripped before the books write (a pure helper, tested); the straightening status write moved inside the crop step, where a retry of a later step cannot re-run it; a failed run hands its row back as a waiting receipt, the same fields the intake writes. After the deploy, the eight rows need a one-off hand-back (they were failed by the old code, so the new handler never saw them), and Drive holds an orphan original+straightened pair for each of the eight from the successful upload step β€” either removed before the person files again, or the re-filing makes a second pair. Owner's call.

  • 2026-09-06 β€” Deployed (owner: "Deploy please"). Hook β†’ dpl_7hoynGREaWUMoUgDY6pL3YHwZz6e READY on main 0a02aa0, aliased to eop.theestablishers.com; PUT /api/inngest "Successfully registered, modified: true"; the live sheet serves the new page. Live together: the worker crops one receipt at a time with the finder on 45 s of the step (#1025); the foot button at the end of the sheet, 16 px fields, the close cross on the enlarged photo (#1024); a batch shows as each photo lands, the "+" counts, uploads time out at 90 s (#1026); and the last write of a filing no longer fails for a sheet receipt, the straightening status inside its step, a failed run handing its row back (#1029). The finder on the NAS was already at 17 s per receipt (deploy run 4). Still waiting on the owner: the eight rows failed by the old code (one hand-back) and their sixteen orphan files in Drive.

  • 2026-09-06 β€” The batch removed, at the owner's word ("help me remove all of my submission, and remove the 16 files as well"), after an inventory of everything it had left behind. Removed: the ten waiting rows in aote-system (all the owner's, created 04:40–04:41Z); their nine reference claims in the ERL books' refClaims, which would otherwise have flagged the same receipts as already claimed when sent again; the thirty staged working copies and previews under the ten staging folders; the two worker runs still parked at the check-it panel, cancelled so they cannot wake and write to rows that no longer exist; and the sixteen Drive files (eight originals, eight straightened) from the uploads that had succeeded before the last write failed β€” moved to Drive's bin, not destroyed, so they are recoverable for thirty days. Nothing had reached the books: zero entries for these receipts and zero entries uploaded today. The receipts can now be sent again from scratch on the deployed code. One note for the sweep: the daily staging sweep would have cleared the thirty files on its own once the rows were gone; clearing them now was for tidiness, not necessity.

  • 2026-10-06 β€” Three faults behind "the finder blinks yellow" and "the picture stays the original". βœ… Read AGENTS.md. Source: EOP Telegram Bot Β· https://claude.ai/code/session_019z4CYS2vGnufAXZNDmnBJW. Owner: "There seems to be an issue with Receipt finder, but that's also the only thing flashing warning light from the NAS … And also, when the mini app shows that an image is straighten, it shows the original until probably at least 10-15 mins later, the chat prompts me"; then "Proceed please, and deploy the commits along with the recent commits as well".

  • The yellow light was a false alarm. The finder was healthy (no restarts in 32 h, every crop that day correct in ~16 s), but it ran the model on its request loop, so nothing else could be answered mid-crop: asked "are you there?" during a crop it answered after 12.5 s, against 1 ms idle, and the app's probe gives up at 8 s. The cropper finishes in a tenth of a second, which is why only the finder blinked. The model now runs in a worker thread behind a one-at-a-time lock (the box has room for one), so the health check answers at once while it works.
  • The thumbnail never asked again. A row's picture was fetched once, when the row appeared, and never refetched when the row gained its straightened copy (20–35 s after filing), so it stayed the original until the sheet was reopened β€” usually from the chat notice, which goes out 90 s after the last receipt of a group and is why the two seemed linked. Worse, tapping it then handed the original to the enlarged view labelled "Straightened". The thumbnail now fetches again when its copy changes, and hands the enlarged view only a matching copy.
  • Three receipts from 2026-10-04 stuck at "Reading the receipt…" for two days. All fifteen arrival readings that morning succeeded; for three, saving the reading onto the row was refused β€” Gemini says "not printed" with a null, the schema turns it into undefined, and Firestore refuses a whole update for one of those β€” and the row-update helper swallowed the refusal, so the run reported "read". Same class as the 2026-09-06 filing crash, in the other write path. The helper now drops empty values and reports a refused save; the arrival reading and the worker's "ready for your check" throw on a refused save so their step retries (and the failure handlers take over if it never lands). Test: __tests__/lib/telegram/pendingFlightState.test.ts. No Firestore structure change: the rows get the same fields in the same shape; only values that could never be stored are left out.

  • 2026-10-06 β€” Deployed, finder replaced, the three stuck receipts read. βœ… Read AGENTS.md. Source: EOP Telegram Bot Β· https://claude.ai/code/session_019z4CYS2vGnufAXZNDmnBJW. On the owner's one-off order, "Proceed please, and deploy the commits along with the recent commits as well":

  • Web app: main at 5eb4d9b deployed to Vercel production (dpl_9RWQLqWhJFZQJUmBuvZvQwKzeCwr, READY), carrying the fixes above plus the other agents' changes merged since the last deploy (9d94e0a): 5b14f71 (T-184/T-205 deploy record) and 0083adf (T-184 β€” pay a WOPC to an OCBC account). Inngest re-synced afterwards; the sheet page answers.
  • Finder: image rebuilt from 5eb4d9b (Actions run 37408561121) and redeployed on the NAS with the same settings β€” 4 prompts per batch, 8 per side, 4 threads, 1536 MB (run 37408741130). Tested on the box: asked "are you there?" three times during a crop, it answered in 2–6 ms each time (12.5 s before); the crop itself still takes ~16 s; answers through the tunnel too.
  • The three receipts stuck since 2026-10-04 07:16–07:19Z were sent through the reading again with the same "photo arrived" message the sheet upload sends. All three now carry their reading and wait for the owner's note like the others: 星洲總廚x倆三杯 (Sep 26, HKD 12), Foodhall by GG ε•ŸεΎ· (Sep 25, HKD 141), Foodhall by GG ε•“εΎ· (Sep 25, HKD 30). No other row was touched. No Firestore structure change: the three rows received the reading fields every other row has. SHAs for this round: a110d3f (branch) β†’ 5eb4d9b (merged, #1050), plus this record.

  • 2026-10-06 β€” "Straighten it again" now tries the finder's next guess; one Drive file per receipt copy. βœ… Read AGENTS.md. Source: EOP Telegram Bot Β· https://claude.ai/code/session_019z4CYS2vGnufAXZNDmnBJW. Owner: "There're 2 active receipts that the cropping isn't done right that I've been re-straigntening, but the result comes out the same"; after the diagnosis, "1. Proceed with your proposal 2. Can we also make sure that there are no duplicated or multiple images of the same receipt saved on the drive messing up the storage?"

  • Straighten it again. The finder is deterministic, so the button (built for the retired AI redraw, which varied per try) could only repeat the same cut. Each tap now asks the finder for its next guess at where the paper is; when it has no other, it says so in the chat ("The finder sees only one way to cut this receipt β€” this is it. If it is wrong, tap β€œUse my photo instead”.") rather than leave the person tapping. The guess number lives in the run, not on the row. A re-straighten that comes back unstraightened now says so instead of claiming "straightened". The finder's own fix (it picked the wall around the taxi receipt) is logged in T-207.
  • No more stray copies on Drive. Filing saves two files per receipt β€” the photo and the straightened copy β€” and every run of the upload used to add a new pair, so a retried filing step or the same receipt filed again after a failed run left extra pairs nothing pointed at (2026-09-06: eight receipts, sixteen files). Each file now carries a Drive-side label (which waiting receipt, which copy β€” Drive "app properties", invisible in the Drive UI, not a Firestore field); the upload looks for its own file first and updates it β€” moved and renamed if the category or date changed in between β€” and bins any surplus copy a race left (recoverable 30 days). The label is the waiting row's id because it survives a failed run; the receipt id does not. Verified live: a tagged probe file was found by the same query the app uses (the probe is in the receipts Drive bin).
  • Audit of the receipts Drive, read-only (454 files under "14. Expense Records"; 138 receipts in the ERL books, all from Telegram β€” none in MEL/EPL/JC):
    • every Drive file the books point to exists; no stray receipt-bot copies remain (the 2026-09-06 ones were binned that day);
    • one receipt is in the books twice: 那個 (ε±―ι–€), 2026-07-11, HKD 145, filed 2026-07-22 (149e92f1) and 2026-07-27 (f603ca0c) from the identical photo β€” the duplicate check missed it (no printed receipt number; the shop name differs by a space). Left for the owner to choose which to delete;
    • 12 [VOID] files: six receipts deleted from the books, kept renamed on purpose;
    • 12 pairs of byte-identical Google Cloud statements in 14b. Vendor Invoices 2024–2025 (ERL_GcpStatement_… and ERL_GCloudStatement_…) β€” the billing pipeline's, not this task's; reported, not touched;
    • 10 older receipt photos (2025, filed May 2025/May 2026, older naming) that no book entry points to: 9 are the only copy of receipts not in the books; 1 (61e Coffee, 2025-03-26) is a second photo of a receipt that is. Reported, not touched;
    • the other 187 unpointed files are vendor, WOPC and service invoices and 2025 hand-filed PDFs that other parts of the app own β€” not duplicates.
  • Not changed: the web Expense Records upload and its "re-run on image" have the same add-a-file-every-time shape (and the image re-run's clean-up deletes are not awaited); none of the 138 receipts came that way, so they were left alone and noted here. No Firestore structure change: the books and the waiting rows are written in their existing shape. The Drive files gain two labels (eopReceiptKey, eopReceiptVariant) on the file itself. Tests: __tests__/lib/telegram/receiptDriveReuse.test.ts, __tests__/lib/telegram/cropChoice.test.ts. SHAs: a77faa9, 8ad981c (branch) β†’ d486c1d (merged, #1052). Not deployed: the finder image is built from d486c1d; putting it on the NAS and deploying the app wait for the owner's word.
